What Does The Bible Really Say About Fringes???

Many people who study the bible and have made a transition to learn and understand the Holy Bible may notice that there is a passage which refers to tassels or fringes listed twice in the Torah, and several times in other passages in the Bible.

The 1st passage we find is Numbers 15:37-40:

37 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:
39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:
40 That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

The other passage of scripture where fringes are commanded to be worn is Deuteronomy 22:12:

12 Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.

And while there is always much discussion amongst the Christian, Israelite and other Bible reading sects on whether or not fringes are to be worn, the commandments given above seem to make things quite clear. There are also a few other points which should be considered for those seeking understanding.

Mankind today makes an outward show to symbolize his fondness of many things in the world. For example a man who plays or “loves” basketball may wear a gold chain around his neck of a basketball. A person who is married and “loves” their spouse wears a ring to symbolize that they are married. Men even go so far as to put tattoos on their body of something they like a lot (which is against God’s commandments see Leviticus 19:28). In God’s wisdom and understanding he petitioned his servants to not only be obedient, but to make them an outward show to remind them to be obedient. And since mankind has always seemed to make an outward show of the things in which he loves, it would be shameful for God’s people to not be obedient and not show their love and obedience to their Creator. His bid is that his people wear fringes.
